This has been a valuable trip for all of our players. The Post-Graduate teams played well in their opening day games, but today really kicked it up a notch and both teams recorded Ws over some pretty talented competition. In fact, they both played themselves into a position in the tournament that it looks like they will square off against ... each other ... tomorrow afternoon at 1:30p. That game will actually be available on the internet for audio webcast at www.ncsaa.org.
The high school teams have run into some adversity and some opportunity. One of the squads took the floor this morning against the highly-regarded (and ultra-talented) God's Academy. After falling behind early, our guys played well enough in the second half to make the game interesting down the stretch, but their opponent was too much. However, we hope they learned a valuable lesson: basketball is a 32 minute game at the high school level, and competing for just 16 of those minutes won't get it done. The other high school team managed to earn a place in the semifinals of their bracket, expecting a tough game to advance to the championship round. However, their opponent, for whatever reason, forfeit the game. This puts us one of our high school teams into the championship game tomorrow at 12:00n.
More tomorrow from Erie, where the storylines will be undoubtedly riveting!
