Nick's Picks will be coming to you live from The Sony Ericsson Open from March 25th-29th. Follow along for predictions, picks, and insight into the tournament on the blog and on TennisWeek.com.
Taylor Dent has been working for this moment for three years. Since reaching a career high of #21 in the world back in August of 2005, Dent has suffered with back injuries that kept him out of play from February of 2006 to May of 2008. There was a time when doctors thought he wouldn't play again, but Dent persevered. After moving to the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (NBTA) at IMG Academy in 2008, Dent has focused on one thing: getting back.
Taylor has been training at the NBTA with other pros and he has also been working with the staff in the Athletic & Personal Development program to continue his rehabilitation. Dent's hard work and dedication has begun to pay handsome dividends.
After winning two matches to qualify for the Sony Ericsson Open (a Masters Series Event), Dent has now reached the fourth round after defeating the world's 16th ranked player, Tommy Robredo 7-5, 6-3. This win comes on the heels of Dent's thrilling three-set victory over 20th-ranked Nicolas Almagro in the second round. He will now face Roger Federer in the next round, and I am sure he will be ready for the challenge.
Everyone at the Academy is thrilled to see Taylor back and winning again because there is not a nicer person on the ATP Tour. His comeback is inspirational to everyone who plays sports and we wish him nothing but the best of luck in his next match! Congrats to Taylor!!
