MANILA, Philippines - Maria Imelda Isabel Piccio capped her stint at the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) with a victory at the Laura Diaz National Championship in Florida on Monday.
Piccio, a 17-year-old scholar at the IMG Academy, closed out with a one-under par 71 at the Haig course of the PGA National Golf Club for a winning 143.
She nosed out Filipina-Japenese Chihiro Ikeda, who submitted a 72 for 145 and Thai Tanaporn Kongkiatkrai, who shot a 74 for 145 for the diadem.
With this latest victory, Piccio compiled a record of three championships, eight Top 3, 10 Top 5 and 12 Top 10 finishes overall.
Compatriot Dottie Ardina fired a final round two-under 70 for 146 to finish in fourth place. The 15-year-old won twice this season and had three other Top 3 finishes, making it as a first team FCWT All-American.
Sally Watson of Scotland, a first team All-American for this season with two wins, was in solo fifth.
Four young ladies finished tied for ninth, including American Caroline Araskog, Taiwanese Vivian Chen and Filipinas Sarah Jane Ababa and Cyna Rodriguez.
Araskog, Ababa and Chen all finished tied for first in the 14-and-under division as well. Ababa won with a par on the second playoff hole. – GMANews.TV.
