Sixteen-year old Michelle Larcher de Brito got the biggest win of her young career today at the French Open. The Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy student beat the #15 ranked player in the world, Jie Zheng, 6-4, 6-3 in the second round. Larcher de Brito, who had to go through qualifying just to get into the tournament, has now won two matches in her first career main draw Grand Slam appearance.
Larcher de Brito dictated play with her excellent groundstrokes and broked Zheng seven times en route to the win. She will now face Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai in the third round.
Congratulations to Michelle and good luck in the next round!
