MANILA, Philippines – Cyna Rodriguez followed up her graduation from the IMG Academy in Florida with a stunning victory at the Trans America Junior Golf Championships in Austin, Texas.
Rodriguez ruled the 15 to 18 years old category, nosing out American Elena Warren by two shots for the plum. It was the first win for the Filipina and she hopes for more success before she attends the University of Southern California in a few months.
Despite the windy condition at Jimmy Clay Golf Course, Rodriguez posted double 73s for a winning 146 total.
Rodriguez, who last won at the University of Florida Challenge of the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) in December last year, dedicated this triumph to her parents.
“I am grateful to have very supporting mom and dad in my chosen sport," the Rodriguez said in a text message. - GMANews.TV
