Erika Tymrak is one of 74 high school soccer players from all around the country to be named to Parade's All-America Team. Tymrak has been a student here at IMG Academy for the past five years, and all the hard work has paid off.
"I was really proud to hear that I was named to the team, it's a very nice honor" says Tymrak.
Tymrak will take her kicking talents to the eighth ranked team in the country, the University of Florida Gators. The Gators finished with a 19-4-1 overall record, and made it to the quarterfinals in the NCAA Tournament. Tymrak looks to contribute in any way she can next year.
"I am so excited to play for Florida. I'm going to bring a new, supportive attitude to the team of girls. I'm not going in expecting to play over everybody right away. I am going to work hard and show the coaches how bad I want to play, and the rest will work out."
Tymrak was a five-year veteran of IMG Academy, and could not be any happier with her experience.
"I love IMGA, I could not picture my life without it. They helped me so much with my strength, physical conditioning, mental conditioning, school, everything. All of the coaches were great, and the team of girls was like our own little family."
Her coach, Nicole DeJongh, did not mind having her on the field either.
"I have not seen a player who has such smooth body movements and change of direction when dribbling with the ball. She is a promising young player with talent beyond her age. The ball seems magnetically drawn to her feet as she runs past players."
Tymrak headed to Gainesville, FL yesterday as she will join her new family of kickers to try to capture an NCAA Championship.
Another IMG Alum, Gale Agbossoumonde, was also named to Parade's All-America Team.
Good Luck to the both of you.
