The round of 64 is now complete at the U.S. Junior Am being held at the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, NJ. Four of the six DLGA players survived their first matches to now move on to the round of 32.
Two DLGA golfers had to compete against each other in their very first match. Ben Palanszki of Hungary had to compete against fellow DLGA student Cyril Suk of the Czech Republic. Ben came out top with a 5 & 4 victory over Cyril. Ben started off great shooting 4-under par on the front 9 which put him five up in the match with 9 holes to play. Ben will face Will Murphy of Columbia, SC tomorrow morning at 8:24 AM.
Cheng-Tsung Pan made an amazing comeback in his first round match against Brendon Connolly of Castle Rock, CO. After 9 holes of play, Cheng-Tsung was 4 down in his match against Connolly. Cheng-Tsung won holes 12, 14, 17 and 18 to win the match 1-up. Cheng-Tsung will now face Allan Jun of Oceanside, CA.
Shugo Imahira, from Japan, who has spent the summer at DLGA in Bradenton also faired well in his first against Lee McCoy of Palm Harbor, FL. Shugo won his first hole on Wednesday and never looked back and closed out the match on hole 15.
Emiliano Grillo, of Argentina, won his match 2 & 1 against Lexus Keoninh of Murfreesboro, TN. Emiliano took the lead on the 7th and stayed up on the match by virtue of winning holes 9,11 and 12. Emiliano will face fellowDLGA student, Shugo Imahira in Thursday's morning match.
Sean Kelly lost his match to Patrick Rodgers of Avon, Indiana.
