Ben Johnson of Newington, Rhode Island, put on such a performance during the 2009 IMG Wood Bat League that he earned the Offensive MVP Award... and a college scholarship.
Johnson recently signed his letter of intent to play baseball next year at the University of Tampa, which had coaches spot Johnson at the IMG WBL Summer Showcase.
I had a great time while I was at IMG over the summer. The weather was beautiful, the facilities were amazing, the coaches were great and the overall experience was outstanding. IMG really helped me get noticed by Florida schools especially during the showcase at the end of the summer. I gained a ton of experience while I was at IMG. I also became a lot stronger because of the weight training. Overall, IMG made me a better player and really got me prepared to step into college and play a role at that college.
Playing for the Hammerheads this summer, Johnson, a middle infielder, batted .478, with 17 runs, 17 stolen bases, 16 RBI, 6 doubles, 4 triples and a HR.
