4/22/10 - Lemon Bay
The JV Boys capped off their season with a 16-6 win over Lemon Bay HS. The win ends the JV season at a 19-6 mark. Andres Carrillo got the win on the mound going 3 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Bryan Srock pitched the last two innings striking out one and walking one. The offense was led by Alfredo Escalera who was 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Austin Scotti was 2-2 on the day with 4 RBIs. Luke Wall was 2-2 on the day with a HR and 3 RBI.
4/16/10 - Lakewood Ranch
The JV boys cranked it up Friday night April 16th to defeat Lakewood Ranch HS 12-3. All 9 IMG'ers had at least one hit. The offense was led by Mitchell Gallagher who was 3-4 with a 2B and 2 SB and Ketchum Marsh who was 3-4 with a 3B. Austin Scotti and Forbes Slater were 2-4 respectively with Scotti adding a 3B to the hit parade. Ryan Sweenor also had a big day going 2-4 with a Homerun and 2 RBI. Hector Ponce improved to 7-1 on the mound with a 6 inning performance giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 11 strikeouts and 0 walks. The boys travel to Venice on Wednesday and wrap up the year this Thursday against Lemon Bay at home.
4/15/2010 - Manatee HS
The JV boys lost 7-3 last night to Manatee HS. The IMG JV record is now 16-6 with 3 games to play. Jeremy Green threw well enough to win, but did not get any offensive support. His line was 5 innings pitched giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Ketchum Marsh had the biggest spark offensively hitting a bases loaded/bases clearing 2B and finishing the day with 3 RBI. Kirk Dirschl also added a 2B and still maintains his team-leading batting average (.553).
4/12/2010 - Cardinal Mooney
On Monday the IMG JV'ers defeated Sarasota Cardinal Mooney 7-6. IMG built a 7-0 lead before surrendering 6 runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Forbes Slater got the hold and Kirk Dirschl got the save to improve the team record to 16-5 and 1-1 in the Riverview JV Tournament. Will Shanahan led the offense going 2-3 with 2 RBI. Andres Carrillo got the win on the mound going 3 innings and giving up 3 runs on 1 hit with 5 walks and 1 strikeout.
4/10/2010 - Sarasota Riverview
The JV Boys suffered a disappointing defeat in Game 1 of the Sarasota Riverview Tournament on Saturday Morning. After plating 2 runs in the top half of the 1st inning, Riverview came back with 4 runs of their own. Riverview did not look back. Hector Ponce took the loss on the day going 5 innings giving up 8 runs on 8 hits walking 3 and striking out 2. Kirk Dirschl stayed hot leading the offense going 3-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Hutton Moyer and Andres Carrillo each added 2 hits.
4/9/2010 - Charlotte HS
The JV squad got back on its winning ways on Friday April 9th with a 9-4 win over Charlotte HS. Landon Rogers got the win going 4 innings while allowing 2 runs and 2 hits with 3 walks. Forbes Slater got the save striking out both batters he faced in the 6th inning. Ketchum Marsh led the offense going 2-4 with a 2B and 3 RBIs. Tim Lawson also added two hits to the winning effort.
4/1/2010 - Braden River HS
The JV boys lost a 6-5 heart breaker tonight at Academy Park. After going up 5-4 in the 5th, IMG gave a up a two-spot in the 6th. The boys had runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs in the 6th but couldn't capitalize and the game was called due to the 2-hour time restraint. The offense was led by Luke Wall who went 3-3 with a run, a 3B, and 2 RBI. Ryan Sweenor also had two hits for IMG including a 3B. Shawn Wilkes took the loss for IMG going 2/3 of an inning and surrendering 1 run on 0 hits and 3 walks.
3/31/2010 - Venice HS
The JV boys defeated Charlotte 12-7 in a 1pm away contest. The JV's built a 4-1 lead into the fifth inning, but bullpen issues allowed Charlotte to score 6 runs in the bottom half of the 5th to go up 7-4. In what was to be the last inning due to FHSAA JV two hour time limit regulations, IMG scored 3 in the top of the 6th to tie it. The IMG boys then held Charlotte scoreless in the bottom of the 6th and scored 5 in the top of the 7th to win it. Offensively, the JVs were led by Hutton Moyer who went 3-5 with a 2B and 3 RBI. Kirk Dirschl and Cal McKim were 2-3 with 2 RBI on the day. Luke Wall added 2 RBI and Will Shanahan had 2 hits including a 2B. Jeremy Green got the win out of the bullpen going 2 2/3 innings surrendering 3 hits and 2 runs while striking out 3.
3/26/2010 - Braden River HS
The JV Boys suffered their 2nd defeat of the season on Friday night with a 5-3 loss to Braden River. The offense could not put anything together throughout the 7 inning affair. Kirk Dirschl led the offense going 2-3, but all other IMG players combined for two other safeties. Jeremy Green pitched a spirited 4 2/3 innings but was lifted after allowing 5 runs on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3. Four wild pitches in the 5th inning sealed the IMG fate.

3/22/2010 - Port Charlotte HS
The JV boys got an 8-3 retribution win against Port Charlotte HS. The offense was led by Matt Martin who went 3-3 with a 2B and a sac fly. Forbes Slater added a 2-3 day with 2 2Bs. Vernon Trice, Eric Myskowski, and Kirk Dirschl all added 2 hits to the 16-hit total attack. Hector Ponce improved to 6-0 going 5 innings allowing 2 hits, striking out 9 and walking 3. Jeremy Green pitched the final two innings surrendering 1 hit and striking out 3. The boys kept the pressure on early and often taking advantage of early PC mistakes.
3/19/2010 - Bishop Verot HS
Bishop Verot HS traveled from Ft. Myers, FL to try to avenge a 13-3 loss to the JV boys from earlier this season. The JV boys were down 5-1 in the 4th inning but battled to walk away with the 9-7 victory. Forbes Slater earned the win in relief going two innings giving up 1 hit and walking 1. The offense stayed hot led by Eric Myskowski who had a career-type day. Eric went 3-3 with 2 3B's and 4 RBI. Ketchum Marsh was 2-4, Alfredo Escalera was 2-3, Austin Scotti also had 2 hits going 2-3. The top three guys in the order were 7-10 on the day leading the way!
3/16/2010 - Top Prospects Canada
The boys defeated a travel team from Canada by a score of 12-11 on Tuesday March 16th. Hector Ponce improved to 5-0 with a 4 IP, 5k and 1BB performance. Jeremy Green earned the save pitching 3 innings walking 2 and striking out 1. Hutton Moyer was 2-3 on the day, Cal McKim was 2-3, Ryan Sweenor was 2-2 with a 3B, Kirk Dirschl was 2-4 with a 2B and Vernon Trice paced the offense going 3-3 with a 3B and 3 stolen bases.
3/12/10 - Southeast HS
On Thursday, March 12th the JV Boys took on Southeast at home. The boys were once again victorious with an 8-1 win. Shawn Wilkes pitched four innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run while walking 3 and striking out 5. Luke Wall led the offense going 2-3 with 3 RBI.
3/10/10 - Hampton Roads Academy (VA)
The JV boys played Hampton Roads Academy at Al Lang Field on Wednesday at 4pm. We walked away with a decisive 14-0 win. The game was played very clean with the JV boys making zero errors and starting pitcher Hector Ponce throwing only 40 pitches through 4 innings. Ponce goes to 4-0 on the season after giving up 1 hit and striking out 4 in the contest. Offensively, Eric Myskowski was 2-3, Will Shanahan was 2-3 with 4 RBI and a 3B, and Andres Carrillo was 3-3 with 2 RBI. Cal McKim had 2 RBI on the day as well.
3/5/10 - Port Charlotte HS
The JV boys suffered their first loss of the season to Port Charlotte on Friday by a score of 5-4. Offensive leaders included Cal McKim who was 2-3, Tim Lawson who was 2-4, and Hunter Keatts who was 2-2 with a 2B. Luke Wall also added a 2B to the effort. Brandon Bonilla took his first loss of the season going 5 innings and surrendering 3 runs off of 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking 3. Bonilla threw 3 wild pitches that led to the Pirate runs. All in all, the game provided a challenge for the boys which they will be sure to learn from. We made some defensive mistakes that will be corrected this week in practice.
We play at Al Lang Field on Wednesday March 10 in St. Petersburg versus Hampton Roads Academy, VA at 4pm and we play Thursday March 11 versus Southeast at Home at 4pm.
On Saturday, we will take our second âNon Baseballâ Trip to Clearwater to watch the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Minnesota Twins in a Spring Training Game. It should be a great opportunity for the boys to see what it takes to play the game professionally!
3/3/10 - Lemon Bay HS
The boys defeated Lemon Bay in an away contest last night 12-4 to improve to 6-0. Hector Ponce pitched 5 innings giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking 2. Hector is now 3-0 on the year with a 2.33 ERA. Offensively, IMG was lead by Hutton Moyer who was 2-3 with 2 RBI and Alfredo Escalera who was 2-2 with a 2B and a 3B. Vernon Trice had two hits on the day as did Tim Lawson. Will Shanahan added a 2B to the overall effort and Kirk Dirschl hammered a 3B. The mustache lives onâ¦
2/25/10 - Palmetto HS
The JV boys stayed hot by defeating Palmetto HS 18-2. After losing the first inning 2-0, the JV boys plated 3 runs in the 2nd. They then went on to plate 2 more in the 3rd due to a 2-run bomb off the bat of Will Shanahan. In methodical fashion, the boys plated 5 more over the next two innings and 8 more in the 5th to end the game after five innings. Offensively, the team was led by Cal McKim who went 2-4, Luke Wall who went 2-3 with 3 RBI, Alfredo Escalera who went 3-4 with 3 RBI and Will Shanahan who went 1-1 with a homerun, 3 RBI, 4 BB, and 4 runs scored. Hunter Keatts got the win on the mound pitching 3 innings, giving up 2 runs and striking out 5 while walking 5. Forbes Slater mopped up the last two innings giving up 0 hits, walking 2 and striking out 2.
The JV boys are at Lemon Bay HS on Wednesday at 6pm for their next contest.
For those that are wonderingâ¦.This last game was the âmustacheâ game. Yesâ¦.I told the boys if they started 5-0 I would grow a mustache. This will last until we lose or until I am threatened by my girlfriend. I look forward to seeing you at our games!!!!!!!!!!!
2/23/10 - Southeast HS
The JV squad continued their winning ways with a 10-0 win over Southeast HS. Brandon Bonilla went 5 1/3 IP to get the win. In his effort, Bonilla yielded 3 hits while walking three and striking out ten. Jeremy Green finished up going 1 2/3 IP, striking out two. Offensively, IMG was lead by Eric Myskowski who went 3-4 missing the cycle by a homerun. Andres Carrillo was 2-4 with a homerun and 4 RBI. Luke Wall was also 2-4 with a homerun and 2 RBI. The boys will travel to Palmetto tomorrow at 7pm for their next contest.
2/22/10 - Bayshore HS
The boys took on Bayshore HS at home yesterday afternoon and walked away with a 10-0 win. Hector Ponce was the hero of the day pitching 5 scoreless innings giving up only one hit, walking one and striking out eight. Eric Myskowski was 2-2 on the day with 3 runs scored and Tim Lawson was 2-2 with 3 runs scored as well. Luke Wall continued his hot streak going 2-3 with an RBI.
2/17/10 - Bishop Verot HS
On Wednesday February 17, the JV boys traveled to Bishop Verot HS. We left with a 13-3 win. We plated 11 runs in the 1st inning which allowed for 20 different JV players to compete in the game (A coaches dream to say the least!). Leaders on the day offensively were Vernon Trice who was 2-3 with 3 RBI, Forbes Slater 2-2, and Joshua Tsao who was 2-3. Hutton Moyer had the only extra base hit (a triple) and Will Shanahan and Bryan Srock added 2 RBI each. Brandon Bonilla got the win going 4 innings. He gave up zero hits, one run (O Earned), two walks and had nine strikeouts.

On a final note, the boys took part in a side trip this past Saturday to Dayspring for a team work/ high ropes challenge. It was awesome!!!! I took pictures and video with my new camera, so as soon as I figure out how to use it, I will get the video and pics up. Needless to say, the boys were very professional in their approach and made me very proud. I believe they learned some very valuable lessons!
2/15/10 - Hamilton HS (NJ)
The JV Boys started off the season with a win versus Hamilton HS. IMG trailed 3-1 into the 6th inning and with 2 outs plated 5 runs on 6 consecutive hits. The rally was highlighted by a ground-rule double off the bat of Ryan Sweenor and a warning track double by Hutton Moyer. The IMG offense had 12 hits and was led by Vernon Trice who went 2-3. Austin Scotti and Kirk Dirschl each had 2-2 days at the plate. Ryan Sweenor led the team with 2 RBI. The IMG pitching performance was solid as well. Hector Ponce earned the win after going 5 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and striking out 3 while walking 2. Jeremy Green earned the save after pitching the final two innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4.
