Today produced some great tennis matches for the men's side of the draw; a complete 180 from yesterday. Yesterday, the average length of the some 8 matches that were played (including Boys 16's and Men's open divisions) was a measly 45 minutes. In contrast, three of today's 8:30 am matches lasted a combined 6 hours and 15 minutes. In the boys 16's division, Balaji Jothishankar took down Tommy Mylnikov 6-2, 6-4 in a fight that lasted 'til a controversial call on the very last point. In the mens open division, Ian Laster outlasted 14-year-old Alexander Sendegeya 6-4, 6-3. On court 15, Jhonatan Gonzalez took down Daniel Khanin 6-4, 6-1 in a lengthy match, clocking in at two-and-a-half hours.
On the contrary, the women's side fared much better yesterday than today. Matches yesterday lasted an average of just under 2 hours, whereas today most were no longer than 45 minutes. Katie Spivak beat Ama Oparison 6-1, 6-1 in quick fashion, back off of the court just 35 minutes after the contest began. Natalia Suk overcame Salua Pizano in short fashion by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
