Golf Channel's Big Break series returns for a 13th season in June featuring an all-female cast that will bring golf skills, beauty and brains on the June 21 premiere at 9 p.m. ET. Taking place at Sandals Emerald Bay in Great Exuma, Bahamas, âBig Break Sandals Resortsâ will showcase a field of 11 women competing against each other in an attempt to make their dream come true of playing alongside the world's top golfers. While many of the competitors are friends and travel companions on the road, when it comes to Big Break, those friendships will be put to the test. In addition to other prizes, the winner will receive an exemption to compete in an LPGA event and a Ladies European Tour event.
This year will be the 2nd time a IMG Academy Leadbetter golf program Alumni has been a contestant on the Big Break. Jeanne Cho was a contestant on the Big Break Hawaii Series where she made it to the finals!
This year will be Seema Sadekar's turn. Seema was a full time student at IMG for 8 years and moved to the academy with her mom and sister from Toronto, Canada. After graduating from the academy she went on to play for the UNLV Rebels! She continues to call Las Vegas her home. Her love of fashion and the finer things fits right with Vegas glitz and glamour.
Seema is a former Canadian Women's Tour money leader, and she just finished runner-up in the 2010 Canadian Tour season opener. Seema made her Duramed Futures Tour debut in 2008, played on that tour 10 times in 2009 and is playing the Futures Tour full-time in 2010. Her best finished to date is a tie for 27th.
In addition to competing full-time on the Futures Tour, Seema is heavily involved with her older sister's golf events company, Play Golf Designs, and also is co-founder of Minx Golf, a marketing and apparel company. Just as an aside, Seema's older sister, Nisha, was also a full-time golfer for 3 years at the Leadbetter Academy.
In its announcement of the cast members, the Golf Channel said this about Seema:
â One of the most fashionable players on the women's golf circuit - she has a custom-made golf bag covered in faux diamonds and wears stylish golf attire - Sadekar always manages to be noticed wherever she goes. In addition to competing full-time on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, Sadekar is heavily involved with her older sister's golf events company, and also is co-founder of a golf marketing and apparel company.â
It will be fun to see how far Seema goes in the show!
Be sure to check out the first show on June 21st!
