Hagan Bottomley traveled from Evans, Georgia expecting to take part in a two-week lacrosse camp at the recently-launched IMG Academy lacrosse program. Nearing the end of her stay, she decided to stay on for one more week of fun and skills training. We caught up with the 15-year-old sports junkie for a little Q&A:
Q. Why did you start playing lacrosse?
A. I had played pretty much every other sport, but I hadn't tried this one. It's a mixture of all the other sports, and after just a year, I've quickly fallen in love with it.
Q. How has your experience been so far?
A. It's amazing how much I have improved over just the last two weeks. My stick skills have gotten so much better. It's unbelievable. Aly [Josephs> is an amazing coach.
Q. What position do you play?
A. I'm a midfielder, so I run a lot. I've really worked on my shooting and ball placement. It's all about repetition. It's the only way to get better.
Q. If you were not going to be a pro athlete, what would you like to be?
A. A professional bungee jumper! I love adrenaline. That's why lacrosse is great for me.
Q. If you could be out on the field with any pro athlete, who would it be?
A. I would be out on the football field with Eli Manning and Tim Tebow.
Q. What's your dream for the future?
A. I love school and I want to become a dermatologist some day. I've always been interested in that area, so I hope to open my own practice some day. But meanwhile, I want to play lacrosse in college!
