Class of 2011 star Phillip Greene of Mean Streets has now picked up a Pacific 10 scholarship offer from the University of Oregon, and has also decided that he will play his senior year at IMG Academy in Florida. Greene currently ranks among the top Class of 2011 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.
Greene, a 6'2" guard, has the ability to get minutes at either guard slot, and is a player who has the ability to impact games on both ends of the floor. Greene is highly effective using his long arms on the defensive end of the floor, and is a player who maximizes his contributions even when he is not scoring.
Oregon was in the house at the ChicagoHoops.com End of Season Showdown, and Greene was very pleased with the offer. “I just received an offer from the University of Oregon. The offer feels good I really like the school a lot, it’s in the Pac-10, and they play a style I like. Oregon is definitely now one of the top schools I’m currently looking,” said Greene who also likes West Virginia, DePaul, St. John's and Texas-El Paso.
Greene is also looking forward to joining his former Chicago Julian High School coach at IMG. “I choose to attend IMG Academy next year because it’s a good opportunity for me to just go down there and be focused. They have trainers down there to help my game, strength, and just overall improve every aspect of me.”
