The U.S. Open is justa couple weeks away and all the players are preparing for the bright lightsof New York City. While some players are using this week to gain match play, Madison Brengle is here at the IMG Academy training and working on her game on the practice courts. Ranked #169 in the WTA Rankings, Brengle was training hard todaywith Dean O'Brien of Georgia Tech to hone her skills. "IMG is always a great place to come back to inbetween events. I know I will leave prepared for the upcoming tournaments."
Madison's next event will be the U.S. Open at the end of this month. Because she is ranked outside the top 100, she will not gain direct acceptance into the main draw. But, she will have two chances to earn a main draw spot in Flushing Meadows. Not only will she compete in the Open Qualifying tournament, she also received an invitation to compete in a wildcard event. "I am really looking forward to the Open. I love New York and I will try my best to qualify."
The 20-year old from Delaware has a big game and seems poised to make a run late into the U.S. Open Summer Series. With her continued hard work and great attitude, she presents a challenge to all of the players on tour. "My main goal for the rest of this year is to just improve. I am just trying to get as fit as I can and compete hard everytime I am out on the court. I think the rest will take care of itself." With all that talent, I am sure Madison will find great success heading late into the summer and we wish her the best in New York!
