IMG Academy Bollettieri tennis program trainees Richard Berankis and Kei Nishikori have advanced into the second round of their respective tournaments.
The 20-year old Berankis, playing in the Brisbane International in Australia, defeated #78 world-ranked and former top-ten Arnaud Clement in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. This win for Berankis, along with his three qualifying victories, have him moving up the ATP World Rankings currently making him the youngest player in the Top 100 and a 2010 ATP Tour Newcomer of the Year nominee. In his second round match he will face No. 7 seeded and #37 world-ranked Florian Mayer.
The 21-year old Nishikori was also victorious in his first round match at the Aircel Chennai Open, being played in India.
Ryan Harrison, also an IMG Academy Bollettieri tennis program Alum and playing in Brisbane, fell in his inaugural match to No.1 seeded Robin Soderling.
