â"We are extremely pleased to have Cam as an IMG marketing client," said Sandy Montag, Senior Corporate Vice President of IMG Sports and Entertainment. âWe anticipate that Cam will be of great interest to companies and brands that want to associate with a proven winner to help grow their businesses. Carlos Fleming, IMG Vice President will manage the global team at IMG that will support Newton's off-field business. He will work in a closely coordinated and cooperative effort with Perennial Sports and Entertainment and B.C. "I'm very happy to have IMG representing the off-field business aspects of my career," Newton said. "They continue to represent some of the greatest athletes in their respective sports and I'm thrilled and honored to find myself included with some of the true icons of global sports."
Born in College Park, Georgia, the 21 year-old Newton initially played for the Florida Gators. He would later transfer to Blinn College, where his team won a national junior college football championship. Newton was then recruited by several major universities and ultimately chose Auburn University. He became just the third player in major college football history to pass for 20 touchdowns and rush for 20 touchdowns in a single season. On December 11, 2010, he was awarded the Heisman Trophy as the most outstanding college football player.
In addition to the Heisman, Newton was awarded the Maxwell Player of the Year Award, the Davey O'Brien Award, the Manning Award as the top quarterback, The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, and was named to the 2010 College Football All American team.
