He just finished his first PGA event, with the Masters also looming just around the corner, but IMG Academy golf program alum Peter Uihlein has some other priorities before his trip to Augusta.
From the Orlando Sentinel:
“I’ve got to go back to class,” said Uihlein, who played the Transitions Championship while on spring break from Oklahoma State.
A junior at Oklahoma State, Uihlein is reigning U.S. Amateur champion, which grants him a spot in the Masters field. Before the prestigious major, though, Uihlein got a chance to test his professional mettle this past weekend in the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook near Tampa.
Joined on the course by coach and IMG Academy Leadbetter golf program director, David Whelan, Uihlein made the cut after shooting a combined 3-under in the first two rounds before posting back-to-back 72s on the par-71 Copperhead course to finish T-57 as the only amateur in the tournament. His play was highlighted by eagles on holes No. 5 and 7 in the second round
