Today IMG Academy announces Loren Seagrave joins the Athletic & Personal Development program full-time as Director, Speed and Movement. Seagrave has served various roles within the Athletic & Personal Development program over the years, and most recently led the speed and movement curriculum included in the Institute's annual NFL Combine Training Program.
"We are excited to welcome Loren to our team in Bradenton full-time," said Trevor Moawad, Director, Athletic & Personal Development program. "He brings not only superb instruction, but decades of international experience and a roster of some of the world's greatest athletes who rely on his expertise. Loren will be an inspiring addition to not only our core work with juniors and pros on campus, but also our growing performance consulting business and our new coach education initiatives."
Seagrave has worked with athletes at every level of the game - from aspiring juniors to collegiate runners to veteran NFL players and track and field Olympians. His multidisciplinary approach to optimizing performance has earned him worldwide recognition. Past and present pupils include: Eddie George (Tennessee Titans); Mo Lewis (New York Jets); Dorsey Levens (Philadelphia Eagles); Tyrone Poole and Marco Coleman (Denver Broncos); Willie Clay (New England Patriots); Terrell Davis (Denver Broncos); Tony Romo, Roy Williams, Marc Columbo and Hershel Walker (Dallas Cowboys); Donovan Bailey (1998 100-m world record holder); Pauline Davis (2000 Olympic Gold Medalist, 200-m); Dwight Phillips (2009 World Champion, long jump); Angelo Taylor (2000, 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist, 400-m hurdles); and Joice Maduaka (multi-national championship title winner, UK). Seagrave has also served as a consultant for the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Nashville Predators, and the Chicago Bulls. In the late 80s, he coached LSU's Women's Track and Field Team to five NCAA national titles. His other areas of concentration are within the sports of baseball, soccer and ice hockey.
Apart from individual and track and field team training, in 1999, Seagrave founded Velocity Sports Performance, a Georgia-based franchising company. Today Velocity remains a leader in teaching young athletes how to be faster and improve their athleticism, while learning to develop a life-long love of physical activity and sports. Since its inception, Velocity Sports Performance has opened more than 90 locations in North America. Most recently, Velocity began integrating the IMG Academy-developed Combine360 training and evaluation platform, designed to enhance overall athletic ability by incorporating the three main components of athleticism, movement, and character, into its current training program in facilities nationwide.
"I'm looking forward to working with the many dedicated youth and professional athletes who make their way through IMG Academy year-round," said Seagrave. "Having had a hand in building some of the programs Athletic & Personal Development program has delivered over the years, I'm impressed by its evolution and happy to be a part of its future."
Seagrave's Speed Dynamics international training group will also now be based out of IMG Academy. The group was developed in the 1980s to provide coaches and athletes with the depth of
knowledge required to produce the best performance results. In support of the relocation, IMG Academy has already installed a world class horizontal jumping training area, and is fast-tracking plans to develop a 400m track and stadium.
As Director, Speed and Performance, Seagrave will continue to develop and administer curriculum for special programs offered by the Athletic & Personal Development program, including the NFL Off-Season Training Program, as well as support all Academy and camp programs throughout the year.
