This past weekend more than 200 high school football coaches from across the southeast took advantage of a unique opportunity to see firsthand the revamped University of Florida football program under new head coach Will Muschamp.
At the 2011 Will Muschamp Coaches Clinic Presented by IMG Academy, visiting coaches sat in breakout sessions with the UF coaching staff to answer and discuss position-specific questions, as well as learn new training techniques and strategies.
Trevor Moawad, Director of the Athletic & Personal Development program located at the world renowned IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, was a personal guest of Coach Muschamp, as well as a keynote speaker. Moawad also took the opportunity to speak privately with the Gators football team. He spoke to the coaches about having a competitive advantage through training your mind the same way athletes physically train their bodies. A key topic from Moawad included information about Combine360 and how coaches can track progress of their players by testing at the beginning of the season and continually gauging progress.
Moawad discussed topics such as building individual and team confidence based on previous successes, creating a motivating environment, and communicating a clear vision. He also emphasized the need for coaches to build strong relationships with each member of the team.
Other speakers included defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and Super Bowl-winning former NFL head coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden.
