IMG Academy basketball program Senior Phil Greene made his previous commitment official today by signing his letter of intent to play basketball for coach Steve Lavin at St. John's University. Greene joins a St. John's recruiting class that ESPN.com ranks as the second best in the nation for the 2012 season, second only to the University of Kentucky.
âI'm happy to sign my letter of intent and start my journey," said Greene. " The whole process has gone relatively smooth and I'm just excited to finally sign my letter of intent to make it official, but now that the process is over the real work begins.â
Greene's coach at the IMG Academy basketball program, Vince Walden, looks forward to seeing Greene play at the next level, and knows that he will understandably represent IMG Academy well.
âI speak on behalf of the entire Academy that we are extremely excited for Phil Greene, for his family, and for the St. John's basketball community," said Coach Walden. "Phil will be a great asset to the community and obviously to the team. He still has a ton of work ahead of him, but I think he is committed to doing the work now and the time in between that he has before reporting to St. John's. I am extremely excited that it is official and he is one of the Johnnies now. He is now representing his family first, the Academy, and the St. John's basketball program and that is a great responsibility, but it is one that we are excited that he has.â
