The Hoops Report
Hello, readers of The Hoops Report. I am Alex Tyus, or AT, and I will be writing weekly "Draft Diary" entries for TheHoopsReport.com as I go through this year's pre-draft process. I am eager to experience the entirety of this process and even more eager to share it with you.
I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. I have remarkable and loving parents that support everything I do, Thomas and Patricia Tyus, and a sister that I am close with, Raphael. I also get to share this journey with my wife, Alli. We have been together for four years and you can read more about our relationship in this article: http://www.thepostgame.com/features/201102/can-floridas-feel-good-love-story-beat-temptation-and-go-distance
I played for the University of Florida for four years. I had a great career and had a lot of fun. We went to NCAA tournaments and we finished in the Elite Eight this year. During my junior year I became the 46th Gator to score 1,000 career points. The last two games of my career, the Sweet Sixteen win against BYU and the Elite Eight loss against Butler; I averaged 16.5 ppg and 13.5 reb. After my performance in the NCAA tournament I was named to the Southeastern Regional All-Tournament team.
Playing professional basketball has always been a dream of mine and I hope that dream will begin on June 23rd when they call the draft. Until then I will be working as hard I can to get in the best possible position to make a team. Follow along to hear all about it!
