This past Sunday at the Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, Florida, three players remained neck-in-neck throughout the round in the Boys 15-18 division: Tzu-Wei Lin, Issa Abou el Ela and Stuart Macdonald.
Ela missed a 6-foot birdie putt on the 18th that would have given him the win, sending all three players to the young Tour's first playoff of the season.
While el Ela and Macdonald parred the playoff hole (18th), Lin birdied for the victory.
Ferré also won the HJGT's event at Fleming Island this past February.
Beyond the strong play, much of the conversation centered around the course, which quickly became a favorite among the juniors who played it. The Golf Digest 4 1/2 star facility was designed by legendary architects Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr., and opened in 1996.
The Tour closes out its inaugural season in two weeks with the Power Balance Tour Championship at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Sarasota, Florida. The Tour Championship is an invitation-only event for players who competed in any or all of the events staged during the Tour's inaugural season, which began last August 2010. Selection criterion for the Tour Championship, in order of priority, is as follows: 2010-2011 tournament champions; player ranking on the 2010-2011 Season Points List; player scoring average in events completed (lowest breaks tie); and number of events player completed (highest breaks ties).
