The past few weeks have included multiple milestones for IMG Academy Bollettieri tennis program alum Heather Watson.
The 19-year-old Guernsey native won her first Grand Slam match in the first round of the French Open, then cracked the top 1oo in the WTA rankings (No. 93 this week).
This week, Watson got the news for another first -- she'll play in the Wimbledon main draw after receiving a wildcard today.
A former junior US Open champion, Watson is the first British woman to advance to the second round of the French Open in 17 years. As a top-100 player, she would have gained automatic entry into Wimbledon, but the rise to No. 93 came after the cut-off period.
Watson is currently playing in the AEGON Classic. She defeated No. 15 seed Chanelle Scheepers 6-3, 7-5 in the first round on Monday.
