Allie Evron, Vicki Zucker, and Jackie Sime all had one thing in common when they stepped onto the campus at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, and that was to play basketball in college. With the help of Coach Shell Dailey, all three will be attending college this fall on basketball scholarships.
Evron will be attending Stetson University in DeLand, FL, Vickie Zucker will head to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, and Jackie Sime will attend Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.
When asked about why they chose to come to IMG, all three girls responded with the same answer: they wanted to improve their game to get to the next level. An integral part of reaching that next level was working with Dailey.
âShe pushed me to limits I didn't think I had,â said Zucker. âShe was like my mom off the court.â Sime and Evron were both in agreement when they said that Coach Shell was dedicated to helping them improve their game.
Having coached on the college level, Coach Shell's advice for all three girls was to stay focused.
âThere are going to be highs and lows, on and off the court,â said Shell. âI was tough on them for a reason because I knew that it would help them down the road.â
When asked what her expectations for each girl was as they started their college careers, Coach Shell responded, âBe the best player they can be, and more importantly, get their degree.â
All three girls reflected on their experience at IMG in a positive light. Evron said that she âlearned how to work hard,â while Zucker stated that it was âan amazing experience.â All three girls, however, pointed to one thing about IMG that stood out the most: The friendships with their teammates that will last a lifetime.
