The IMG Wood Bat League began Saturday with each of the six teams engaged in double headers. With inclement weather threatening, there was worry all game play would be squashed for the day. However, after about an hour and a half rain delay in the middle of the first three games, play was able to resume, and all six games were tallied. Let's take a look at the final scores and top performers, as well as the game of the day.
Game of the Day
Manatees: 7 Conquistadors: 0
The Manatees struck first in the top of the 1st with an infield single by Daniel Contreras to score Grey Klosinski. After Tyler Biggs was hit by a pitch, Mike Roberts came up and singled in Contreras to take a 2-0 lead.
Moving onto the top of the 2nd inning, the Manatees scored three more runs with singles by Contreras, Biggs, and Brooks Norton.
With the score at 5-0 in the top of the third inning, stormy weather took over at the campus at IMG Academy. After aone and a half hour rain delay play resumed. Scoring also resumed for the Manatees in the top of the 6th as Biggs tallied on an RBI single. In the same inning, Norton singled in Biggs, but was thrown out at second while trying to stretch his hit to a double.
