ODP Region III Champions 2011
The camp took place in Montevallo, Alabama at the University of Montevallo and went from July 6 to July 10, 2011.
Alabama was an unbelievable experience for me this year, from the flight there until our final game. Last year in 2010 when I went to Alabama for the first time I was very nervousbutthis year I felt much more prepared and I knew more of what to expect from the otherplayers and coaches. The girls on my team and the girls I had to play aganist wherethe top players from each of their states so there was always a good challenge in every game and training session, which definitely helped me improve my game.
Our first game on July 7which was just a scrimagewas aganist North Texas, we ended up lossing 1-0. We definitely should have won but it was our first game together so we didnt have much chemistry....yet. Our next game which started the tournament was on July 8 aganist Mississippi and we won this game 1-0. Their team was the tallest team we ended up playing aganist and since I was in the center midfield every gameit was my job to challenge their tall players for headers and try to win posession quickly and counter aganist them. Our team really started to click after this game and we never lost another game. North Carolina was our next game on July 9 and we beat them as well, 4-0. I had 2 assists in this game. This was by far the best game I had out of all the games.I was told by my region coach and coachthat I realy stood out and made myself a presence on the filed. Our last game, the final, we won 2-1 aganist a very good Georgia team. We where down 1-0 at half time but we fought hard and came back in the 2nd half. After this win we became the Girls 96"Region III ODP Champions.
I dont have any of my coaches names. They usually just had us call them coach. One of my coaches though was a coach for a college in Florida.
Texas is one of the biggest accomplishments I've ever had in my soccer career and I'm really looking forward to it. I realy believe in myself andmy team and thatwe can pull of a win and become the ODP National Champions. I feel like we havesomething that all the other teams don't have. Ever since I've come home I have been taking the tipsI was given in Alabama and trying to perfect them so I am better prepared for Texas. I have been working on my foot work mainly, along with some tactical things, like my speed of play. I will go out almost every day I can before Texas and constantly try to improve myself as a player soI will be more prepared. I'm not positive but I've heard Texas may come sometime in early March, if I find out the exact dates I will let you know. I also have not found any articles from ODP about it but I'll let you know if i find any.
Colleges that I am mainly interested in are The College of William and Mary, Stanford, Wake Forest University, University of Notre Dame, and DePaul University. Not only do I want to play soccer in college but I want to get a very good education. I am currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at Riverview High School and I have a weighted 4.8 grade point average.
IMG Academy is even part of the ODP Regional camp! We had a mental conditioning session as part of the camp and I was lucky enough to know how to apply many of the skills from the presentation they did already. It was great to understand how IMG Academy soccer program implements this into our regular training program.
In the picture I'm the fourth from the right on the top row.
