At the 22nd annual Wyndham Cup, IMG Academy golf program alum James Yoon helped the East clench a victory at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina. Competing with 19 other players from the east side of the Mississippi River, the squad overcame a 6 year drought. The first time since 2004, Yoon and the other East representatives beat the West 32-18.
The first day of the Wyndham Cup resulted in a 9-6 lead for the East, winning 7 of the 10 points in the four-ball matches. Yoon halved his match with fellow East teammate Motin Yeung against Nicolo Galletti of Clayton, California and Marcel Puyat of Indio, California.
At the end of day 2, the East widened the gap to 18-12, winning 6 points in the foursome matches. Yoon and Yeung halved once again, playing Beau Hossler of Rancho Santa Margarita, California and Jonathan Garrick of Atherton, California.
On the final day, the East team tallied 14 points, while the West only put up 6 points on the board. The East girls, 10 of the 20 players, made an impressive impact on the scores, winning 9 of the 10 girls' matches. For the last singles match, Yoon halved once again, playing against Marcel Puyat.
