It has been a long and hot summer for IMG Wood Bat League Players. For the past several weeks, players have been working hard and competing at top level to be the best. All of their hard work will pay off as the Wood Bat League season is coming to an end this weekend and a champion team will be named.
But there are other individual champions out on the field. At the end of each Wood Bat League, individual awards are handed out to a few select players that stood out in front of the competition.
IMG Wood Bat League Cy Young Award
The Cy Young Award is given to the best pitcher in the league and thisyear's winner is Gabe Von Rosenberg from Zachary, LA. Von Rosenberg is undeniably an amazing player. He only gave up 17 hits all summer and has the most strikeouts in the league with 38. He has spent his Wood Bat Leaguetime competing for the Marauders under Coach Pete Paciorek. He has been a League Leader through out the summer and was also once selected as Pitcher and Playerof the Week.

IMG Wood Bat League Co-Defensive MVP
This year's Co-Defensive MVP award goes to goes to two valuable players. It was too difficult for the Wood Bat League office and coaches to pick just one winner. This year's two winners are Eddie Herbst and Tyler Biggs.
Eddie Herbst is from Laredo, TX. He competed on the SeaDogs as catcherfor Coach Mario Jimenez. Through out the summer, he was a regularamong the League Leadersof the IMG Wood Bat League. Herbst was a very versatile player and would play anywhere Coach Jimenez wanted him to.He alsopitched 25 innings for the SeaDogs,displaying his endurance with the catcher/pitcher combination.
Tyler Biggs is locally from Bradenton, FL. He played catcher for the Manatees under Coach Mack Paciorek. Biggs has arguably the strongest arm in the league, especially from behind the plate as a catcher. Not only was he catcher, but he also played 2nd base and 3rd for the Manatees and was solid defensive player in those positions as well. Biggs was also a League Leader during the summer.
IMG Wood Bat League Batting Champion
This year's IMG Wood Bat League Batting Champion is Joey Pinney, from North Little Rock, AR. Pinney wasa constantthreat at the plate through out the summer. He competed for the for the Hurricanes under Coach Graham Johnson. Every pitcher in the League feared Pinney because of his power and advanced approach at the plate. He was once selected as Player of the Week, was a common name amongLeague Leaders, and also participated in our Baseball Brainteasers Challenge. Pinney has proved to everyone in the Wood Bat League, that he is a force to be reckoned with.

IMG Wood Bat League MVP
TheIMG Wood Bat League MVP award is extremely prestigious. This year's winner goes to a Bradenton local, Mike Roberts. He played for the Manatees under Coach Mack Paciorek. Roberts was their ace pitcher, leading his team in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched. As you can see, there was a significant reason why Roberts was chosen as MVP. He led his team in almost every offensive category. Roberts has maintained great character throughout the entire season, something that every baseball coach appreciates.
