This past weekend, the Athletic & Personal Development program held a speed clinic for local high school and college coaches.
Loren Seagrave, IPI's Director of Speed and Movement and world-renowned speed coach was the featured speaker at this event. Clinic topics included Unifying the Principles of Speed, Neuro-Biomechanics of Acceleration, and Coaching Multi-Directional Speed. Mike Smith (Manatee High School, Track and Field) had this to say
âAs soon as I heard Loren Seagrave was speaking at IMG Academy, I knew I had to go, and I was not disappointed," said Mike Smith, Manatee High School track and field coach. "The information Loren provided could be used by any coach in any sport."
Seagrave has worked with numerous NFL players, runners and triathletes on increasing running efficiency. Establishing a reputation in track and field as one of the best sprint and hurdle coaches in the world, Seagrave has worked with countless Olympic and World Champions. In 2000, Seagrave co-coached 6 Olympians from 5 different countries, including the Gold Medalist in the 200-meters, Pauline Davis. He also served as Head Olympic Coach for Liberia, recording two national records in the Men's 4 X 100-meter Relay. In 1998, Seagrave was sought out to direct the training of 100-meter Olympic Champion and World Record Holder Donovan Bailey.
