Kuechly: College to the Pros

Luke Kuechly during afternoon lift

Whether it was a state championship at St. Xavier high school in Ohio or accumulating 191 tackles falling just two short of setting a NCAA record at Boston College, Luke Kuechly, at every level played thus far, has been very successful. As a consecutive two time All-American totaling 532 tackles in just three seasons (2nd highest total since 2000), and a 33-game streak with double-digit tackles, Kuechly has his mind focused on the NFL.

As Kuechly forgoes his senior year at Boston College and prepares for the upcoming NFL draft as a very probable first round pick, he has selected to train at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

IMG's NFL Combine Training program consistently attracts multiple first-round draft pick potentials. Kuechly is not only receiving access to elite speed and physical conditioning coaches here at IMG, but also mental, vision and communication experts. He is also enrolled in a rigid nutrition plan to optimize all of his hard work. Kuechly, an already smart and instinctive tackling machine at the linebacker position, will only better himself with IMG Academy' unique discipline areas of training.

Instead of wondering about next season at BC and how to make things better as one of the cocaptains, linebacker Luke Kuechly is focused on next month in Indianapolis, where the NFL combine will be held.

Though he has passed up his senior season, the 6-foot-3-inch, 238-pounder is conducting business the same way he dealt with football: relentlessly.

“I'm down here doing what Anthony [Castonzo, former BC tackle> and Mark [Herzlich, former BC linebacker> did,'' said Kuechly by phone from Florida. “I'm just working out, getting ready for the combine.''

Both Herzlich, who is now with the New York Giants as they prepare to play in the NFC Championship game, and Castonzo, who was a first-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts last spring, worked out at IMG in preparation for their NFL careers.
