IMG Academy golf program alum Casey Wittenberg secured the first Nationwide Tour title of his career this past weekend at the Louisiana Open. Wittenberg played the final 48 hols of the tournament without a bogey on his way to a decisive eight-stroke victory. He shot scores of 66, 66, 63, and 65 to set a new Louisiana Open record at 24-under par.
Wittenberg finished as the runner-up in the 2003 U.S. Amateur and played collegiately at Oklahoma State University.
"I've put a lot of hard work into my game," Wittenberg told the AP after his victory. "I've probably underachieved to where I thought I might be at this point in my life, but golf's a humbling game. It's a tough sport and you have to cherish these weeks when you play good."
