Day One at the Nick Bollettieri Discovery Open at IMG Academy

Friday Wrap:

Steady rains delayed the start of the inaugural Nick Bollettieri Discovery Open. Eighty-five participants representing 20 countries were treated to a full day of on and off-court training to prepare themselves for Saturday's matches. Divided by gender, participants rotated through a series of clinics and training sessions hosted by IMG's world-class coaches and trainers. Nick Bollettieri hosted skills clinics, while IMG master trainer Stacey Daniels, who works with countless pro tennis players, brought participants through a series of bodyweight exercises using specialized equipment and training techniques offered by IMG sponsor TRX. TRX Training enables hundreds of functional movements to build the core stability, rotational power and improved balance that are essential for developing a smooth, powerful stroke.

Tomorrow, play begins at 9:30am for both boys and girls. Participants will also partake in Combine360 testing - a measurement tool that provides a baseline of one's athleticism. Matches will resume in the afternoon at 2:30pm.
