IMG Academy athletes Max Foody and Brett Hanewich were recently added to the Class 5A Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-State Baseball Team based out of Tallahassee, Fla. Foody joined IMG Academy in 2010 to receive specialized rehab after an injury and has since developed into a powerful pitcher in two short years. Foody was presented with the Varsity Cy Young Award from IMG Academy this past season and was recently drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 12th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
IMG Academy junior Brett Hanewich is no stranger to success. He was one of seven IMG Academy players to earn a spot on the Perfect Game USA High School Underclassmen All-American Team in 2012. Hanewich also pitched a no hitter in February of this year after working on his curveball with coach Steve Frey. Following these achievements, Hanewich was presented with the 2012 IMG Academy baseball program Award.
The players on the Class 5A Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-State Baseball Team are selected by a committee of coaches throughout the state and are chosen based on skill, ability and overall performance.
