IMG Academy golf alum, Casey Wittenberg, recently won the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open held June 18-24 at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kan. Wittenberg, who built off his top 10 finish at last week's U.S. Open, shot a 63-70-67-66 throughout the Wichita tournament. The victory made Wittenberg the first two-time winner of the year on the Nationwide Tour. Wittenberg's first title of 2012 came at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open in March.
Wittenberg's Wichita win helped him climb eight spots to No. 2 on the Nationwide Tour Money Leaders list, bringing his total yearly earnings to $240,019. The win also brings Wittenberg closer to securing his 2013 PGA Tour card. At the end of the season, the Nationwide Tour's 25 top money winners earn a PGA Tour card for 2013. With another title, Wittenberg would earn an automatic card, as players who win three Nationwide Tour titles in a season are immediately promoted.
