Garrett Pratt, a 2012 graduate of IMG Academy, recently committed to the post-graduate program at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia. The post-graduate program offers Pratt a chance to play football while adhering to a strict routine involving discipline and leadership, qualities that are not always available to students.
Pratt, a veteran to the football program at IMG Academy, was one of the first campers to attend the initial program in the summer of 2010. In the summer of 2011, Pratt had intentions of spending five weeks at IMG, training with several of the most respected coaches in football. After realizing his dedication to the sport, his family formally moved to Sarasota to allow Pratt to train at IMG Academy year-round.
âSince the coaches have been to some of the highest levels of football, I wanted to train around people like that,â said Pratt. âIMG Academy offers individual, one-on-one training that you just don't find in high school. They helped me tweak the small things and become an all-around better athlete.â
However, soon after arriving in Bradenton, Pratt suffered from a break in his collarbone, essentially ending his senior year plans. Although Pratt missed his last season, he continued to train with the coaches and experts at IMG Academy in order to get back into the game.
During his training, Pratt practiced under Head Coach Chris Weinke and Coach Adam Behrends and spent time off the field with IMG Academy's trainers and performance experts.
"I am very excited for the opportunity Garrett has to continue his playing career at Fork Union Military Academy,â said Coach Weinke. âGarrett has spent a lot of time with our academy honing his skills and fundamentals. He's bigger, stronger, and faster than he's ever been and has an opportunity to develop into a strong college prospect this fall."
Pratt will start at Fork Union this fall as wide receiver. He hopes his time at the military academy will provide him with the tools to continue his development and growth as a football player and a leader on and off the field.
