IMG Academy's Leonardo Kitahara earned a medalist honor (T1) at the 2012 AJGA Taylormade Qualifier. Kitahara shot 2-under par 70.
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Kitahara began training at IMG Academy in 2007 and started as an Academy student in 2010.
Kitahara was joined by Mitch Holden of Peterborough, Ontario, who also shot 2-under-70, and Lauren Coe of Tarpon Springs, Fla., who medaled at 1-over 73.
According to the AJGA, the the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Qualifier for the Peninsula Junior Classic was an 18-hole stroke play event held at Sussex Pines Country Club hosted by the American Junior Golf Association.The tournament featured 80 boys and 16 girls, ages 12-18.The boys division played the par-72 course at 6,632 yards, while the girls division played the course at 5,793 yards.
