Class of 2015 quarterback Nick Heras (Newton, MA/Newton South HS) was the first football program student to join IMG Academy as an 8th grader, and anxiously awaits each opportunity to return to his training grounds to train with Chris Weinke. This season, his training is really paying dividends.
Heras earned the job as starting QB for Newton South HS this year – whose team went went 0-11 in 2011. Behind the talent of Heras, the Newton South Lions have improved to a 2-3 overall record on the year, playing in Massachusett’s Division 1A. Heras was also named the Division 1A Player of the Week for Week 3.
Newton South HS Head Coach Ted Dalicandro was interviewed recently, and credited Heras’ talent as a big reason for the team’s turnaround this year. Said Dalicandro, “He can run. He can throw. He makes the offense click. He has a special talent, and he does a lot with that talent.”
Heras returned to IMG Academy earlier this year to spend additional time training with Chris Weinke and the IMG Academy football program.
