Two IMG Academy alumni earned starting nods for Big XII conference contenders this week. Kamari Murphy (class of 2012) and Jamari Traylor (class of 2011) will start the 2012-13 season for Oklahoma State and Kansas, respectively.
From The Oklahoman on Murphy:
â'Kamari Murphy is a young man who is pushing our inside guys right now,' [Head Coach Travis> Ford said. 'A guy whose motor never stops. He plays until exhaustion. He's always trying to rebound, always tries to get a piece of the ball. He posts harder than anyone we have on our team.' ... Murphy, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., played last season at IMG Academy in Florida. He averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for a team that finished 28-2 against prep school competition."
From The Kansas City Star on Traylor:
"But Tuesday night, Traylor, now a redshirt freshman, will start at forward when the Jayhawks begin their two-game exhibition
schedule with a matchup against Emporia State at Allen Fieldhouse. ... Traylor had barely played organized basketball before playing his junior season at Julian High in Chicago. He then transferred to IMG Academy in Florida for his senior season, blowing up on the national scene in the process."
