IMG Academy's own Mac Styslinger (class of 2012) is off to a good start with the Virginia Cavaliers. In October, he reached the round of 16 in the ITA All-American Tennis Championships, and this week, qualified for his first ATP event, the Charlottesville Pro Challenger. The 19-year old Styslinger was impressive through qualifying, but fell to 28-year old Izak Van Der Merwe of South Africa (ATP No. 183), 3-6, 2-6.
As a student-athlete at IMG Academy, Styslinger was heralded as a blue chip recruit by tennisrecruiting.net (No. 2 overall in class of 2012); reached the semifinals of the2011 USTA Boys 18s; played in all four junior Grand Slams in 2011, reaching the round of 16 of the Australian; and reached arank of top 30 in the ITF world junior rankings.
