IMG Academy ladies golf alumni Isabelle Lendl and Laura Blanco are making strides on the college and international fronts of women’s golf. Lendl, a senior at the University of Florida, recently won the Dixie Women’s Amateur on Jan. 2. She entered the event ranked No. 4 overall in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, and the win marked her second victory on the 2012-13 college season.
Lendl was a part of IMG Academy from Nov. 2004- June 2008. In 2006, she won The Verizon Junior Heritage. She signed with the University of Florida in 2009 and was named to the Second Team All-SEC and the SEC All-Freshman Team her freshman year. In the 2011-12 season she tied a school record with -6 on the last day of the NCAA Championship.
Meanwhile, Blanco is competing in the Copa de las Americas for her native Colombia. Colombia is the defending champion of the tournament, and Blanco carries the second lowest overall score at 1-over 145, and in the second round she delivered a 2-under 70, the lowest among the women.
Blanco attended IMG Academy from 2009-10. While attending, Blanco represented Colombia at the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships in Argentina, and signed with Arizona State University in 2011 where she recorded four top-25 finishes during first season. The following year she helped the Sun Devils qualify for their 21st straight NCAA Championship with the second –lowest round of the season at the NCAA East Regional.
