IMG Academy alumni Atticus DeProspo and Dwight Powell are excelling in the classroom while keeping on top of their game.
After helping the Cornell Varsity Men’s Soccer Team win the Ivy League title and compete in the NCAA tournament, DeProspo focused his off-season on his professional dream- becoming a labor lawyer that represents the theater unions in either New York City or for a theater productions company as a whole. As part of Cornell’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations Winter InterSession Program, DeProspo was one of one-hundred students who were given behind the scenes access to Manhattan’s home for arts and entertainment, the Lincoln Center. A proactive student-athlete, DeProspo hopes to soon land an internship in the arts and entertainment industry.
Across the country and on the court, fellow alumnus Dwight Powell is having a season to remember for Stanford. Having started all 24 games thus far, the 6-10 junior forward is leading the Pac-12 while averaging a career-high 15.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, something only four Cardinals have done before. Powell has also posted 7 double-doubles and stayed close to the 80-percent free throw mark, helping Stanford rank 39th in the nation for free throw shooting. With 26 blocks and 19 steals, Powell’s defense has not lacked either. Coming off an impressive Arizona trip, Powell and the Cardinals look to continue the hot-streak at home against in-state rivals USC and UCLA.
