IMG Academy student-athlete Matthew De Heus wins US Kids Florida State Championship

10-year old IMG Academy student-athlete Matthew De Heus shows off his US Kids Florida State Championship in the Boys 10 division, won over the weekend in Orlando, Fla.

After winning three consecutive US Kids Tampa Summer Tour events, IMG Academy student-athlete Matthew De Heus ventured to Orlando, Fla. for the US Kids Florida State Championship, held June 29-30, to vie for top honors in the Boys 10 division. Competing on the links of Walt Disney World's Magnolia Course, De Heus walked away with the Boys 10s state championship in the two round event after carding a 10-over 118 to secure a three-stroke victory in his division. De Heus overcame difficult playing conditions due to scattered showers throughout the weekend, and competing against the best players in his division from all across the state of Florida.

De Heus comes to IMG Academy from San Francisco, Calif. via the Netherlands. He will look to continue his winning ways during the upcoming academic year as a full-time IMG Academy golf program student-athlete.

However, De Heus was not the only IMG Academy student-athlete with an impressive finish recently. De Heus was joined at the US Kids Stats Championship by Ariel Yu, who finished second overall in her division. Meanwhile, playing on the North Florida PGA Pee Wee Championship, Louie Liu won top honors in the Boys 7-8 division.
