The IMG Academy Lacrosse winner of the Gatorade G-Award/IMG Academy Athletes of the Week Award is Brittin Hekking from Kaysville, Utah.
How long have you been playing lacrosse for?
This is going to be my sixth year; I am 16 now.
Who is your coach?
I usually work with all the coaches, but I do a lot of more shooting so I work a lot with Coach Patrick Haley.
What is your favorite thing about IMG Academy and why?
Coming out here, two times a day, having good coaches and also getting good fitness instructors. I don’t really have that back home.
Do you have any pre-game rituals that help you prepare for a big game?
I do it as a team. We do this big circle where we all wrap our arms around each other and we do this big cheer. It’s a lot of fun.
What professional athlete inspires you the most?
What is your favorite thing to do after you win a game?
I usually have a conference with my coaches after, and then after that I go with my parents and grandparents out to dinner.
What motivates you to push through a tough practice?
I just remember that even though I live out west, it’s possible if I have good grades I can come out and walk on. I just think, I need to be the strong, fastest, everything, so I need to work the hardest too.
