Class of 2008 IMG Academy soccer program alumnus Aron Johannsson headlines the U.S. men’s national team (USMNT) roster for tomorrow’s Bosnia-Herzegovina friendly in the capital city of Sarajevo.
USMNT head coach Jürgen Klinsmann praised Johannsson as “one of the up-and-coming promising strikers in Europe” and hopes to see his role on the team expand, according to the Washington Post.
From 2010-2013, Johannsson played forward for AGF Aarhus and made history by scoring the fastest hattrick in the Danish Superliga. In late January 2013, Johannsson represented the Alkmaar Zaanstreek (AZ) club of the Eredivisie, the top league in the Netherlands. The 22-year-old Icelander recently switched his FIFA allegiance from Iceland to the United States.
