Over the weekend, the IMG Academy Women's Basketball program traveled to Chicago, Ill. to participate in the Crete-Monee 1st Annual Cross Town Shootout.. The event hosted nine of the top-ranked programs in the Midwest, and our girls did not disappoint against some of the region's best. After two tough games, IMG Academy finished as the top-seed in the event. Khaleann Caron-Goudreau was recognized as the tournamwent MVP for her stellar performance. Caron-Goudreau finished with a combined total of 60 points, 18 rebounds and four blocked shots.
In the first game, IMG Academy faced Marist (Chicago) and won 45-38. Khaleann Caron-Goudreau led the charge with 20 points (8-of-10 free throws), 14 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Other key contributors included La-Torae Nixon, who added nine points, eight rebounds and two steals, and Abigail Tinsley who scored six points and two rebounds. In the second game, the Ascenders rose up and defeated Milwaukee, Wisc.'s Rufus King soundly, 80-57.
However, it was against Rufus King that Khaleann Caron-Goudreau secured tournament MVP honors with an astounding 40 points, six rebouds, three assists, two blocks and a steal. Aiding the dominant performance were Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau, who contributed 11 points of her own, 10 rebounds, two steals and a block, Abigail Tinsley with 10 rebouds and nine points, and guard Camila Tapias with eight points, three assists and three rebounds.
