In the sport of basketball, there is a common misconception that the best way to warm up and increase mobility is through static stretching, such as holding a stretch for 30 seconds to a minute or even longer.
Cheng-Tsung Pan has had an impressive career in golf at only 21 years of age. This year, Pan qualified for the prestigious U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club. At the event, he reached as high as third on the leaderboard before finishing T-45, playing alongside some of the game’s greats like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Ernie Els. All this came after beginning 2013 as the top-ranked collegiate golfer in the nation as a member of the University of Washington men’s golf program.
IMG Academy has teamed with leading human performance technology firm, Motus Global, to empower the participants in the 2013 IMG Academy NBA Combine/Draft Training program with the knowledge to increase their durability and performance over the course of their careers. In order to help each athlete maximize their potential for the NBA Combine and upcoming Draft, Motus has provided motion analysis testing to help each athlete increase mobility and stability, while decreasing risk of injury.
The transition from college basketball to the NBA often proves to be one of the most challenging time frames in a professional basketball player’s career. The jump from high school to college was relatively easy for many of the former collegiate standouts training at IMG Academy for the NBA Draft. However, with the annual NBA Draft coming up on June 27, the professional ranks present a host of new challenges as the athleticism, work ethic and pace of play all increase exponentially at the next level.
The Knicks hosted another closed workout today and among the notable names like Gorgui Dieng of Louisville and Brandon Davies of Brigham Young University, arguably the most intriguing name was Nate Wolters of South Dakota State.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has built sort of a cult following in the midwest region after posting great numbers during his four-year reign of the Summit League where he led his team to two consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. But to the average basketball fan, Wolters is a virtual unknown.
