Holly Makar of Anchorage, Alaska wins IMG Academy Girls Soccer Gatorade G-Award Week of June 10

Every week at least one athlete from each sport will earn the Gatorade G-Award/IMG Academy Athlete of the Week for displaying Heart, Hustle and Soul, and exhibiting a true desire to reach their true athletic potential.

The IMG Academy Girls Soccer winner of the Gatorade G-Award for the week of June 10 is Holly Makar from Anchorage, Alaska.

How long have you been playing socceer for?

Led by Director Bobby Johnston, a former D-1 women's soccer coach, and a staff of coaches with decades of experience coaching the girls' game, IMG Academy offers the nations's most effective program for developing talent and sending student-athletes to the collegiate level.

With five girls' teams, IMG Academy teaches both the tactical and technical elements for elite play. Girls learn not only the proper fundamentals through position-specific instruction, but also game strategy that helps them become individually effective, while promoting team success.

IMG Academy girls soccer camp participant Magge Rustico wins Gatorade G-Award

Maggie Rustico of Middleton, N.J. was selected as the IMG Academy Girls Soccer Gatorade G-Award recipient for the week of June 3. She has been playing soccer since the age of four, and her position is right midfield. Her favorite thing about IMG Academy is the soccer fields. While Maggie does not have any pre-game rituals, she always gets ice cream after winning a game, even if it's only ten degrees outside.

IMG Academy soccer coaching clinic in Japan is a success

IMG Academy's Director of Soccer, Scott Dean, and Director of Girls Soccer, Bobby Johnston, and coach Matt Baehr traveled to Japan recently to hold a coaching clinic for aspiring players and coaches. The clinic took place at the Global Arena in Munakata city, Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan, May 17-19. During the three-day clinic, more than 130 boys and girls players and coaches from around the country took time out to learn from IMG Academy's Dean and Johnston, while more than 1,200 spectators took in the action.
