IMG Academy's Kavan Eubank made IMG Junior Golf Tour history when he teed off at Grand Cypress Golf Club - New Course for Thanksgiving at Grand Cypress, held in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 29 - Dec. 1. The event attracted a full field of 90 players, including several from as far as Australia. Eubank, playing in the Boys 15-18 division, stole the show with a record shattering performance through the three-day event.
IMG Academy alumna Kelly Tan received her LPGA Tour card for 2014 after carding a seven-under 353 (72-72-71-70-68) in the LPGA Qualifying Tournament - Stage III, played at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., Dec. 4-8. Tan finished T-13 alongside Victoria Elizabeth (Dayton, Ohio), Lisa Ferrero (Lodi, Calif.), Paula Reto (Cape Town, South Africa), Paz Echeverria (Santiago, Chile) and Silvia Cavalleri (Milano, Italy).
IMG Academy student-athlete Seiya Liu may be only 16-years old, but he is making a difference in children's lives through his charitable work. Liu has been the top fundraiser for the American Junior Golf Association's (AJGA) Playing Fore Their Future Program, which benefits the Jack Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation.
IMG Academy Golf program alumnus Andres Echavarria (2006-07) is one of nine Latin American players in the running at the final stage of the Web.com Tour Q-School, to be held in La Quinta, Calif., Dec. 12-17. As part of his preparation, Echavarria, a native of Medellin, Colombia, stopped by IMG Academy to work with long time coach, Kevin Collins, to tighten up his game.
Over the weekend, the IMG Academy Golf program's Latanna Stone secured her second FSGA win of the fall at Juliette Falls in the Girls 16-18 division. Only 12-years old, Stone paced the field with the low round of the event on Saturday with an impressive round of 71. Stone's low round padded her lead enough that she was able to fend off Terese Romeo and Emma Albrecht on Sunday by a single stroke. Stone finished with scores of 71, 78 on the weekend, while Romeo and Albrecht finished tied for second.
IMG Academy Golf program alumnus Peter Uihlein, a member of the class of 2008, was awarded the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award, given to the top rookie on the European Tour. The 24-year old Uihlein also carries the honor of being the first-ever American to earn European Tour rookie of the year honors after he put together a remarkable season that included a win at the Madeira Open and a 14th place finish in the Race to Dubai.
IMG Academy Golf program alumna Ginger Howard is 19-years old and aiming to earn her LPGA Tour card this year. Recently, the budding young star was featured in Golf Magazine's Most Beautiful Women in Golf. She appeared in a photo shoot, and sat down for an interview where she discussed her passion for the game, training at IMG Academy and much more!
