Dr. Angus Mugford
About Dr. Angus Mugford
Dr. Mugford brings a wealth of knowledge to IMG after spending years at an academic level completing his doctorate in sport psychology. He is the Head of the IMG Academy Mental Conditioning Division, managing a staff of 9 consultants and developing programs for junior and professional athletes and coaches. Through his understanding and application of skills, Angus trains athletes in group and individual settings, across a wide range of sports and consulting with NCAA Division 1 programs, athletes from the WTA and ATP tour, NFL and NBA.
Ignite360 was developed under the supervision of Dr. Mugford to reflect the authenticity of the work the Athletic & Personal Development program (IPI) team, while also demonstrating evidence based practice. Coaches, athletes and professional peers were integral in the development of the most relevant and appropriate testing protocols, reflecting a 360o approach to performance.
Angus holds a PhD in Sport Studies (specialization in sport/counseling psychology) from the University of Kansas, and is a Certified Consultant with Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) and British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES), which are two of the world’s top sport psychology professional organizations. He is also a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Sport Psychology registry for the 2008-2012 Quadrennium, and has presented many topics at conferences throughout North America and interacts with many top professionals in the field.
