On day four of the NFL Combine, IMG Academy-trained tightends, Tyler Eifert (Notre Dame), Gavin Escobar (San Diego State) and Vance McDonald (Rice), took to the stage. Eifert and McDonald clocked in with the third and fourth fastest 40-yard-dash times, respectively. The 6’5” Eifert posted the second-best vertical with 35.5”. McDonald, meanwhile, bested all TEs and most OL with 31 reps on the bench press. All impressed scouts during their on-field workouts.
Of the offensive linemen, IMG Academy’s OT J.C. Tretter out of Cornell scored well across the board. With 29 reps, Tretter came in 11th among OL on the bench press. Fellow IMG Academy trainee Garrett Gilkey snuck in just behind him with 28 reps. Tretter posted a 5.09 on the 40-yard dash, good for 13th. His 4.69 on the 20-yard shuttle put him just behind IMG Academy trainee Luke Joeckel (4.68) in 14th. Joeckel, the possible #1 overall pick in the Draft, wowed onlookers with his footwork and movement on the field.
